1.
Teams shall consist of no less than six players.
All
players must be registered before they may enter any of the
League’s competitions.
2.All
competitions will be played under the current rules of the
‘Billiard
and Snooker Control Council’.
All
teams should ensure that their tables, rests, balls, etc.,
meet the required standards.
3.
Games will be played on Wednesday nights, unless
otherwise stated
at
the beginning of the season.
4.
The home team shall provide the markers, the away team
the referees.
In
the interests of fair play, the captains should ensure that
their referees
are
fully conversant with the rules of snooker and are impartial
in judgement
whilst
officiating. (e.g. A referee should never inform a player
that
he is about to commit a foul stroke, or needs a snooker,
etc.).
A
referee must never offer a player advise in any manner
whatsoever.
5.
The home captain shall be present by 7.45 on the night
of the game
to
welcome the visiting team. The captains shall draw lots for
opponents
in
good time for the match to commence promptly at 8.oo p.m.
Where
a hall or club has only one table, games will commence at 7.30
prompt,
to
avoid late finishing. All late starts should be reported to
the Secretary.
Where
there is only one (1) table, a team may be penalised a frame
for
every 15 minutes they are late, and the match after 45 mins
at
the home captain’s discretion.
This
rule covers late arrivals at places with two or more tables,
but
home captains should use more discretion at these places,
as
a match played on two or more tables does not take so long to
play.
6.
It shall be the prerogative of the home captain to
decide the order of play
and
so that this privilege may be exercised, all members of the
visiting team
should
be present prior to the matches commencement.
Captains
should ensure that where there are two tables, both are used.
7.
If a visiting player is not present when called upon to
play,
he
may be replaced by a reserve. If this is not done, the home
captain shall,
at
his own discretion, either claim the frame or re-arrange the
order of play.
8.
No League, Halifax or Clares Cup matches can be
rearranged.
If
no member of a team attends and plays a frame, 60 points will
be withdrawn
from
their Halifax handicap advantage the following season.
9.
All Cups and Shields reissued annually remain property
of the
Anglesey
Snooker League Club and must be returned to the league
secretary
on
request during the first half of the following season.
10.
The Singles, Doubles, Over 40’s, Captains Cup and
Billiards Winners
must
sign a receipt on the day of the presentation and will be
charged
for
any repair costs due to damage or loss of the leagues award
whilst
in their possession. The
League committee will revue each case.
11.
The
Clares, Halifax, Incentive and League Winners Award
must
be signed for by either the team captain or an official from
the teams
home
snooker club and will be held responsible for any loss or
damage
to
the award and therefore pay for any repairs or costs towards a
replacement.
The
league committee will revue each case.
12.
All match protests must be made in writing and
forwarded to
the
league secretary within 3 days following the match,
calling
for the protest to be dealt with by the league committee.
13.
Late Cards – On completion of the Wednesday game,
cards
must be received by the league secretary by the Saturday (3
days later).
If
cards are received later than 3 days then a penalty of 5
points will be added
to
the home teams handicap.
14.
Playing a Non-Registered player – Teams offending
this rule will forfeit the match.
15.
Should a match, due to unforeseen or exceptional
circumstances,
be
unable to commence or, having commenced, prove impossible to
complete,
it
shall be declared void and replayed within a period of 28
days,
the
teams being re-drawn as at the matches commencement.
Reports
of such an occurrence to be sent to the Secretary within 48
hours
and
the result card returned as per normal, stating “Game
Void”.
16.
Members of the league are eligible to enter N. Wales
Team,
Pairs
and Individual Championships.
Entry
forms for these will be available to any registered player.
17.
No alterations shall be made to the rules of the league
or the constitution,
except
at a General Meeting and after due notice.
18.
No Players may be transferred to another team once the
player has played for a
particular
team unless their team has withdrawn from the league
mid-season.
In
this case the players Merit score will continue.
19.
No new players can be accepted into the league after 31st
January of each season.
20.
It shall be the responsibility of the captains to
display, in prominent positions,
all
snooker literature which they receive.
21.
The Anglesey Snooker League Team shall be picked by a
committee of five,
consisting
of the Secretary, Treasurer, Chairman,
and
four other league registered players.
The
four league registered players can be chosen at any of the
season’s meetings.
22.
Players should support the league, either through
meetings, functions,
or
fund raising activities.
23.
All cheques should be made payable to ‘The Anglesey
Snooker League’.
Cheques
received will be paid in as soon as possible.

LEAGUE
AND COMPETITION RULES
New Rules in Red
For
the CLARES CUP Competition a draw must be made
and
then played in order drawn.
Under
no circumstances can players be allowed to play earlier
or
later than their drawn position.
LEAGUE
MATCHES shall consist of 4 or 6 players per team,
with
each frame won, the team gains one point..
four
singles matches and two doubles matches.
If
both teams arrive with 6 players, singles games can be played
throughout,
if
agreed by both captains.
Each
CLARES CUP Round will consist of 2 legs, one away game
and
one home game. First team drawn will play the first leg at
home.
In
the event of a tie after the second leg, all second leg
players will go into a draw
to
determine which players will play the deciding frame.
CLARES
CUP matches shall be played on a knockout basis
Between 4 or 6 players from both teams. If both teams
arrive with 6 players,
singles games can be played throughout, if agreed by
both captains.
Breaks
made in games of no consequence to the result shall not count,
unless the
break
was made before or during an end to match on another table
which decided
the
outcome of the match.
HALIFAX
HANDICAP SHIELD matches shall be played on a handicap system.

or 6
players
per team shall be drawn and a handicap shall be awarded
to
the lesser team, depending on their league position.
If
both teams arrive with 6 players, singles games can be played
throughout,
if
agreed by both captains. This handicap based on league
position shall be
determined
at the season’s commencement.
THE
HALIFAX SHIELD Competition will consist of just one leg
as
opposed to
two for the Clares Cup.
The
Lower placed team for this
competition will have the Home advantage.
If
2 teams level on points are drawn against each other in the
Handicap competition,
the
match will be played on neutral ground.
In
the case of a tie on points, including handicap, a draw must
be made to decide
which
two players play a deciding frame.
The
lesser team player shall be given 1/6 of his team’s
handicap.
Having
determined the handicap to the nearest whole point
the
players may ask for it to be put on the board prior to the
games commencement.
THE
INCENTIVE CUP shall go to the team who have not been the
winners or
runners-up
in any of the seasons team competitions, and
have gone the greatest
amount
of games in succession undefeated.
In
the case of a tie, the team highest placed shall win.
THE
CAPTAINS CUP is open to team captains only.
All
competition rules are as per the individual competition rules,
The
Singles Competitions are Best of 3 for early rounds
and
Best of 5 from the Quarter Finals stage.
The
doubles matches best of 3 and best of 5 from the Semi Finals.
MERIT
shall be defined as the greatest number of league singles
games
won
during
the season.

JUNIORS
1.
A junior is someone who is 18 years old, or younger,
on
or before the night of presentation of each year.
2.
Captains should ensure that if a player is a junior,
he
states it on the registration form.
A
junior who has not registered as such, may miss out on Rule 3
(below).
3.
The league shall provide trophies
for
the Junior Highest break and Junior Merit winners.
4.
A Junior Cup Competition is held during the season for Juniors
aged 18 and under.

INDIVIDUALS
& DOUBLES CHAMPIONSHIPS
1.
Entries should be submitted on the official entry form
before
the commencement of the season or a date pre-stated.
2.
All matches shall be the best of three frames, except
the semi-finals and final,
which
shall be best of five.
3.
Matches shall be played on the home players table,
unless
mutually arranged otherwise.
4.
Semi-finals and finals will be played on neutral
tables,
unless
mutually agreed otherwise.
5.
It shall be the responsibility of the home players to
arrange the match.
They
should give their opponents a choice of four dates in any ten
days,
one
of which may be chosen by the opponent.
Players
may arrange otherwise if mutually agreed.
Failure
to give a choice of four dates (home player),
or
accept any of the four dates offered (away player),
will
result in elimination. Away players not contacted
within
ten days of the closing date, should contact the Secretary
immediately.
6.
Matches played after the closing date shall be void.
7.
The
winners must contact the Secretary in writing, to avoid
elimination.
8.
In early rounds, players are advised to appoint their
own markers and referees.
Semi-finals
and finals shall have officially appointed markers and
referees.
9.
In the pairs competition, players shall, at the time of
entry,
be
registered with the same team. If one or both are transferred,
they
may continue in the competition with the home table being that
which
would have applied had no transfer taken place.
10.
A partner may be replaced by another team member,
but
only under exceptional circumstances (illness, death),
and
only after consultation with league officials and drawn
opponents.
11.
In the singles, no player can be replaced by a team
mate.
If,
for whatever reason, a player pulls out (illness, etc),
the
league shall award a bye to his opponent, or allow the
previous opponent
of
the resigned player through, depending upon what stage the
competition
is
at after consultation with drawn opponent.
THE
CAPTAINS CUP is open to team captains only.
12.
All
competition rules are as per the individual competition rules,
except
that matches shall be best of 3 frames and best of 5
for
Semi Finals and the final.

MERIT shall be defined as the greatest number of league
games won
during
the season.
